I was pretty excited to see the new app store show up on iTunes. As a faithful fan of everything Apple I was looking forward to this big event.
Now?
Meh, I could take it or leave it. I just spent half an hour browsing through the applications. I downloaded some because they are there, but really who is going to pay 10 bucks for Tetris? I have to believe that the platform is going to provide an opportunity for some killer app that hasn't been thought of as of yet. I would really love a shell so I can ssh into my servers. Until then all I have to say is what's the big deal eh?

Yeah, I know…. there’s a lot of crap in the AppStore. It’s still a pretty young platform but some apps give you a glimpse at the potential of the iPhone. I was at WWDC this year and the capabilities are incredible. I think we’re going to see a lot of pretty 3D games and might have to wait a little longer for that app that you can’t live without anymore to come out :).
I agree. I think that at some point we’ll see applications that are truly revolutionary. It just takes time and someone with vision. (Wish I had that vision, but I frequently find myself thinking, “why didn’t I think of that”)
Justin,
That is why the “open” world is always better. I have a jailbroken phone and I have had a shell for 4 months now. It is pretty cool, not only can I ssh into my servers but I can ssh into my phone. In fact, I even have vnc. so I can even vnc into my pc if I want (its pretty useful to get a wow out of somebody) Also, I think the only thing that really appealed to me on the app store was pandora but I already have last.fm on my phone and I like last.fm better than pandora anyway.
